Write a letter to the website official requesting to get a refund for your item after returning it. Here is IELTS general writing task 1 sample (band 9)

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to you to request you for a refund of an electronic watch that I purchased online from your website on 23rd May 2018. Allow me to elaborate on exactly why I would like this course of action to be realized.

I purchased a new electronic watch of XYZ company from your website last month to give it to my daughter for her birthday. Unfortunately, it appears that she already received the same watch from her friend on that day and thus has no need for the one I bought for her. I hope you can empathize with my situation. Having two similar products has put me in a state of dilemma and I do not need the purchased item anymore.

Thus, I would like to return this item to you for a refund. As per the policy of your website, I understand that if I return this item within 60 days of the purchase date, I can expect to have my account credited for the full purchase price.

Gratefully yours,
ABC

  1. You mention that you bought it for daughter but later you wrote below sentence which is grammatically wrong. See below
(No need for the one i bought for him).
It should i bought for her not him.

    1. Dear Kamlesh, thank you for your inspiring comments. Motivational comments always makes me enthusiastic to write more. Thanks again.

  2. The question says “But, the item was not up to your expectations and you want it to be returned”… so you need to tell about the fault in the item as it was not what you expected…so I believe the TA is not complete
